Laura Babitt’s family has been a part of District 1 for generations. Laura is a long-time community leader, former Berkeley School Board Director, and a California Democratic Party Delegate for Berkeley and surrounding cities. For over 16 years, she has worked alongside Berkeley families, educators, businesses, and community organizations to solve problems, strengthen neighborhoods, and expand opportunities for residents of all ages and backgrounds.

As a global finance and operations executive, Laura helped steer the company through COVID-19, tariffs, and global and political instability while increasing revenue by over 350% and creating a welcoming environment for staff.

As Councilmember, Laura will work with local officials and agencies to ensure city services are responsive to the needs of our residents — from maintaining our streets and parks to streamlining our permitting process.

As a financial auditor and public sector controller,, Laura provided strong financial oversight and stewardship of public funds.

At City Hall, she will be a strong advocate for accountability over taxpayers money and balancing our budget.
